Speech is something that I did not know if I would succeed in or not. I took the required speech class in my sophomore year but I actually joined the school speech team my junior year. My friend Gianna convinced me to join due to my love for writing. I ended up joining the creative exterp category and my first meet went so well. I ended up placing sixth, which is major. I did so much better than I thought I would. The piece I chose to write was a letter I had written to my rapist that I never gave him. It takes a lot for me to stand up in front of people to explain to them my story, but it needed to be done. I am proud of myself for the progress I have made and how strong I have become. Our mascot cats are even a nice touch 🙂
