Freshman Year

Quarter 1

My assignment is the dramatic monologues in the class Intro to Acting. For this assignment we had to read and act out an emotional/dramatic monologue consisting of multiple sentences. This assignment connects to the 6 C’s through character and creativity. It connects to character because during this assignment we have to go up in front of the class and act emotionally which is a challenge for me. It is a challenge for me because I’ve severely struggled with stage fright and presenting in front of a group larger than 5. But this class/assignment has really helped me get out of my bubble and explore the more emotional side of things therefore expanding my character. Along with character this assignment connects to the 6 C’s through creativity. It connects to creativity because when presenting this assignment we have to act out emotions and choose a tone or mood to perform the monologue in which gives us a lot of creative freedom on how to interpret the monologue. The things that i am most proud of with this assignment is conquering my stage fright and expanding my bubble. This assignment helps me in regard to my future life plans because communication is a big part in most jobs today so if i didn’t get out of my bubble or expand my character than i most likely wouldn’t succeed in that career.

Artifact

This is my artifact for the class. This is not the monologue for the dramatic monologue but for the comedic one because i could not find any artifacts for my dramatic monologue.

Quarter 2

I am reflecting on my project on food in Spain for the class Spanish 9B. For the project we would get assigned a Spanish speaking country where we would have to research was they ate and drank for each meal. This project connects to the 6 C’s through character and communication. It connects to character because for this assignment i would have to research and create a project off of something i knew little about meaning i would have to expand my knowledge and therefore expand my character. It connects to communication because i did this project while not in school and i had to communicate with my teacher to know how to do the project correctly. What i learned relating to this assignment was that i learned what a certain country ate and I learned a bit about their culture and how that country is different to ours. In this assignment i am most proud of the fact that i did this while in Hawaii while experiencing a time change and while having many activities that interfere with work time on it.

Quarter 3

I am reflecting on my final project for the book Romeo & Juliet by William Shakespeare in English 9B.  In this project, the teacher gave us many options of what we could do. The options were

  1. Create a piece of artwork that illustrates a theme from the play.  Write a short explanation of your work.
  2. Rewrite the plot of Romeo and Juliet to include a believable ending in which the couple lives happily ever after.
  3. Choose 3 songs that describe characters from the play.  Write a short explanation of each of your choices.
  4. Write your own sonnet.
  5. Get a small group together and write a shortened version of one of the acts or the entire play. You would include actual lines from the play and perform it for the class.

I chose the 3rd option because i enjoyed music and felt that i could get the best grade using that option. This project connects to the 6 C’s through creativity and critical thinking. It connects through creativity because I had to use my creativity to find songs that connect to the story in their own way. It connects through critical thinking because i had to write a 2 1/2 page paper explaining each song. The aspect of this project that i am most proud of is my song choices because i believe that those songs represent the book well. A challenge that i faced with this project was choosing the songs because as easy as it sounds, i had a certain criteria when finding the songs. They couldn’t be about the book directly and they had to support a theme or idea from the book.

Quarter 4

I am reflecting on my Styrofoam cup sculpture that i made in Clay & Beyond in quarter 4. In this project we were given a few Styrofoam cups and were told to cut them up and make a sculpture out of it. The only criteria was that it couldn’t look like a cup anymore. This project connects to the 6 C’s through creativity and critical thinking. It connects through creativity because i had to use my creativity to make the sculpture and make it one of a kind. It connects through critical thinking because when making the sculpture i had to think of where to place each Styrofoam piece. An aspect of this project that i am most proud of is how it turned out in the end. I believe it looked better than i thought it would considering my lack of artistic ability. This assignment shows my growth personally because it allowed me to explore and strengthen my interests.
