Junior Year

Junior Accel English

This year for English class I decided to take an accelerated course. This class was hard for me because a lot of the students in this class had previous knowledge I didn’t have. I really struggled with the paper because it was a lot more in-depth than the papers I have written before. Overall this class was very beneficial because it taught me how to work hard and try my best. If I did this class again I would have started my paper over and made sure everything in my thesis relates to every paragraph. I used collaboration in this class by working with classmates to study vocab or proofread papers. I also used communication by asking my teacher for help and having support throughout the class.

Junior Year Student Assist-

This quarter I took part in student assistance for a kindergarten class at Byron. Every day I would spend over an hour with these kids in the classroom getting to know them and their personalities. I loved this class because I was seen as a leader by these kids and could tell they looked up to me. If I had to do this class again I would want to try and assist an older grade to compare what I learned from the kindergarteners to older kids. This class taught me communication is key with children. I also showed my character and portrayed myself as a role model for the kids. Overall, I loved this class and it was an amazing opportunity to see all that teachers do!

Junior Year Anatomy and Physiology-

This quarter I took Anatomy and Physiology class. This class was very interesting and I learned a lot about how the human body works. This class was challenging because there was a lot of information being thrown at me and the test seemed to be over broad topics. I really enjoyed the class because it was taught very well and the information was very interesting. My favorite aspect of this class was learning about the nervous system and now we are able to intercept thoughts. Within this class, I used collaboration with all of the dissections and also communication to make sure me and my lab partners all knew what was going on. Overall I loved this class and gained a lot of knowledge.

Junior Year Human Geography

Throughout my Human Geography class, I learned a lot about the evolution of humans. I liked this class because it was science-based and explained how humans evolved into the creatures we are today. Humans evolved from apes and we became smarter and more “fit” for our environment. We learned to communicate with each other and become civil people effectively. This class used critical thinking because we had to predict what our ancestors did and try to connect dots from the past. We also used collaboration by working with other classmates on projects and activities. This class was very beneficial because I gained lots of knowledge that I will be able to use as a guide in my everyday life.
