I chose Clyde Bellecourt because I had no idea who he was. I wanted to know more about someone I’ve never heard of before. I started off by googling who he was to get some basic information. As I got deeper into my research I found information about him that kept repeating. I decided to use that information in my speech. 

 

I felt like the act of actually writing my speech was the most successful part for me. I like writing and putting things together. It just makes sense in my head.  I struggle with finding the actual information I have to use for my speech. I don’t know what information I can believe and what’s not real. That’s why I look for the same things coming up in the articles I read. 

 

I believe that this assignment fits under critical thinking because it forced you to do research on someone you may not have known a lot about. Then you had to gather the information you had come up with and write a speech about them. This assignment made you use your head. It’s not easy to come up with a speech on a person you haven’t heard about until they were assigned to you. 

 

This gave me a better understanding of the ways society was shaped because every person that has made an impact on today’s society has done something very different than others. I think that because of all these powerful movements, standing up for rights, fighting for what they believe in, has made a long-lasting impact.
