On December 17th, in our basketball game against Cannon Falls, I severely injured my ankle. After many x-rays and an MRI, we found out that I partially tore several ligaments in my ankle, and that my timeline for my return was uncertain, but not likely that I would make it back by the end of the season. This news was very hard for me to hear because of my love for this sport, but I worked extremely hard and made a goal that I would make it back by the end of the season. However, through the time I was unable to play, I had the opportunity to help coach. Through this experience, I learned many things. I learned that there are many positives in every situation that is thrown at you. At first, I was super bummed, but now I know that I will have a new and greater appreciation for the sport. I also learned that you do not have to be on the court to make an impact. I worked extremely hard with my PT and overcame many challenges and setbacks, and am now back before the playoffs. Many people told me I would not make it back in time for playoffs, but I learned not to listen to them and to work hard and stay motivated. This “setback” helped to build my character and helped strengthen my mindset. Although it was hard, I know that everything happens for a reason and I am thankful for my opportunity to get back to playing.
